Sergeant Jim Bellos

Sergeant Dimitrios (Jim) Bellos is a cross-cultural liaison officer for the Queensland Police Service in the South Brisbane District, Brisbane Region. South Brisbane District is the most multicultural policing region in Queensland.
Sergeant Bellos has been recognised as the Suncorp Queenslander of the Year in 2009 and at the Queensland Australian of the Year Awards as the 2012 Queensland Local Hero. In 2005 he founded the multiple award winning For the Love of the Game program to address racial issues through sport and teamwork. He is also an Adopt a Cop school volunteer for six multicultural schools in his region who have high numbers of new refugee and migrant students.
He has now been appointed as a People of Australia Ambassador for 2013. He is a member of the Queensland Multicultural Roundtable. He has also received three national and state awards for his outstanding contribution to enhancing relations within diverse multicultural communities.
